The weight of the tent is 14.5kg, so make sure you eat your spinach to build up your muscles! Or pop it in a trolley (like we did) to take into the camp site with you. It is amazing that such a large tent fits in such a neat and compact bag! A mallet is not included. I did however, take video of the packing up of the tent, which you’ll be able to watch at the end of this review.Įverything you need to pitch the Capri 400 is inside the bag – the tent itself, the tent pegs (there are three kinds), the folding pole for the front extension, and the air pump for the beams. I didn’t take any video of Steve and Liam pitching the tent – I was too busy reading out the instructions (which are very handily sewn into the bag which the tent comes in) and taking some snaps for my review. I am by no means a tent aficionado (the only time I’ve ever camped was when I was about 12 in the Girl guides!), but I have to say that this tent was so easy to put up and take down, even we could do it! (And when I say we, I mean, my husband – Steve and son – Liam!) I’m going to start with a review of the tent we were given: the Vango AirBeam Capri 400. It doesn’t cost you anything more but it helps keep the lights on over here! If you clicked the link then made a purchase, a small percentage of the sale price would be paid to this me. Since 1966 Vango has been developing tents and outdoor equipment for a wide spectrum of outdoor users who trust and rely on the quality they know comes with the Vango mark. With a strong heritage to be proud of, all Vango gear is developed from experience. My mind was boggling! Then Vango kindly stepped in to collaborate with me and my blog, and provided us with a tent, airbeds, sleeping bags, rucksacks and cooking utensils – the very basics we would need to spend a few nights outdoors! Thank you Vango! Since this was our first time camping we started to look around at the different tents that are available on the market – so many types and at varying prices, as well as all the other gear we were going to need – sleeping bags, cooking equipment etc. You actually lose a lot of heat in the night through the ground. If you’ve been reading my blog recently you’ll know that we recently went camping at our first family festival – Camp Bestival! Putting these in the sleeping areas will make it that little bit warmer at night, as the rugs will provide some ground insulation. However, you can also purchase a ‘Rug’, as Vango call it, to fit in the sleeping area. As with most tent carpets, the carpet for the Inspire just covers the living area. Getting a carpet for the tent is a good idea ( click here to see why). When we saw this tent there was also carpets for the sleeping pods. This is great for keeping toys and games, without worrying about them blowing about at night. In addition to the really good entrances to the tent, the porch also contains a small storage tent. Here’s a quick video tour we made of the Vango Inspire 600 tent. This is ideal if you have small children as you can easily get to them in the night without having to even leave your sleeping bag. You can also unzip the central sleeping pod to get into the one on its right. The Inspire 600 is a 6 person tent with three bedrooms. We think this is ideal for Mum, Dad, and two children. The Vango Inspire 500 is a 5 person tent with two bedrooms. There’s also a good size living space, providing plenty of storage for all your gear when going on a camping holiday. Some polycotton AirBeams in the past were quite heavy, but the polyester is much lighter, and so will be easier to transport and pitch.īoth the 500 and 600 have a sheltered cabin style entrance, in addition to a side storm porch, making them ideal if the weather changes and starts to rain. The inspire uses a 6000mm Hydrostatic Head Polyester material (click here to read more about Hydrostatic Head or different Tent Materials). The Vango Inspire is part of Vango’s AirBeam range of inflatable family tents. A quick-pitching air framed large family tent. The Vango Inspire comes in two sizes (Vango Inspire 500 and Inspire 600).
